April Ross

April Ross was one of just a handful of women beach volleyball players who have won medals at more than one Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross Tokyo to win her third gold medal in the next couple of days. But more than that, Ross hopes to win the first Olympic gold. This may be the last time she has the chance at age 39. But she's convinced that winning the gold medal is in reach. Ross was reported in NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very best, even if you do well, we'll get the gold. Therefore, I'm hoping to have a little bit of luck too. Ross was born on August 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She lived there with her family. Ross's athletic endeavors began at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of different sports. As a prep-athlete she was also a participant in indoor volleyball and track. While she did well at indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her skills were above the average. In her college profile, she was an outside hitter, middle blocker, and setter throughout her volleyball time in high school. As a tribute to her efforts, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player 1999. In 2000, she was named Orange County Athlete of the Year for volleyball. Even though Ross Klineman and Ross are in the spotlight since 2017, the former was already a big-time participant on the beaches long before their pairing. It's true that she's won multiple big tournaments as well as one of her partners was a volleyball superstar. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the World Championships in 2009. The duo eventually captured an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. The pair were able to win the beach volleyball bronze during the Rio Olympics in 2016. After high school and many years before hitting the sand as a pro Ross was a ball to the Trojans at USC while an NCAA. And her run at USC was one to remember. In 2000, she was voted Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman Of The Year, and was also an All-American. The Trojans had the chance to make it to the Final Four with her help. Her sophomore year was the time she suffered a tremendous personal setback, but she was able to be a second All-American. Over the course of the two years she played for the Trojans, she helped them achieve consecutive championships. She was a fantastic volleyball player and won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross was a major in international relations at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter reach the top of beach volleyball. Ross's mother died of cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. However, she continues to remember her deceased parent close and close. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration to her both on and off the beach.
