John Denver became a star thanks to the folk songs that he wrote, many of them set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a native of New Mexico. musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's state anthems inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declares it is true that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first ever to be inducted. He is now the international face of Colorado. When I travel, I always encounter someone on the other part of the globe, one who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads is Denver's only Top 10 Hit as a solo artist after having worked in small Folk Music Groups. The song was composed in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it to Johnny Cash's tune with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver was aware from the very first time he heard early versions that the song was going to be an instant hit. The song was recorded by the singer only a few days afterward when he performed it in front of the awe-inspiring crowd at Washington D.C.
